PROMOTION OF CLEANER COOKING COMPANY

A not for profit organization distributing high efficient biomass cookstoves

Cleaner cooking saves money, lives and the environment

What do we do?

In close cooperation with the Malawian company* the foundation ´´Stichting Afrecooking´´ focusses on minimizing the use of biomass and in particular indigenous wood for cooking in Sub-Saharan Africa through, among other things, the provision of fuel efficient charcoal cook stoves.

*Promotion of Cleaner Cooking Company.

This will result in, among other things:

Furthermore we are also promoting more efficient charcoal production methodologies.

How do our stoves make a change?

Firebox is efficiently insulated and adapted to the pot size and thus all heat is going to the pot. Light weight, thus can easily be moved around during cooking. Optimized combustion (variable airflow) and thus low emission of toxic gasses.

The stoves are produced by a renowned American multi-national (Envirofit Inc), who has reached a milestone of more than two million highly efficient fuel saving stoves worldwide (charcoal + wood).

Performance is being tested in certified laboratory (under auspice of Clean Cooking Alliance).

Savings for an average family between MK 150,000 and MK 200,000 per year.

Thus don’t wait to buy your Mbaula!

A completely smokeless kitchen!

Envirofit has developed a special wood stove for large groups of people (boarding schools, prisons, hospitals etc. ). Energy savings 80 to 90 % and due the efficient chimney the result is:. A completely smokeless kitchen!!

Smoke in the kitchen, the silent killer

Cleaner Cooking is directly related to reducing cancer, lung diseases such as COPD and pneumonia in young children.

Worldwide about 40% of the world population is cooking on open fires and/or very inefficient charcoal cookstoves. Also the majority of the households in Malawi cook on open fires. These cooking practices consume huge amounts of wood while it also generates smoke and other harmful gasses. The inefficient cooking methods have shown to cause a long list of health problems.

About Malawi

“There is a great deal of hardship in Malawi, but there is also great opportunity, resilience, and joy—even in the face of extreme poverty.”

Malawi is a tiny landlocked nation situated between Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique in central sub-Saharan Africa. One of the most densely populated countries on the continent, it is home to over 19 million people whose primary vocation is subsistence agriculture.

Deforestation

United Nations Environment Program

“Demand of charcoal has placed unsustainable demand on forest throughout whole Africa. Due to high population density Malawi suffers exceptionally. The overall demand is expected to triple before 2050.”

“Forests make crucial contributions to GDP…by providing vital ecosystem services, such as storing carbon, protecting watersheds from erosion and sustaining biodiversity”

When using industrial charcoal production all types of biomass can be converted to premium charcoal briquettes thus no need for using INDIGENOUS FORESTS.

Combination of efficient charcoal stoves and industrial charcoal production saves 80 % of the biomass.

testimonials

"Once I used local stoves. I spent 2 bags of charcoal at a month while eco-stoves I used 1 bag of charcoal for 1 month and 2 weeks.

In cooking condition, its very fast when cooking our local food like Nsima or Nyemba (beans)".
